Brian,
I was wondering if you could do a reading on the missing Purdue University student. We have friends who have a son in the honors program there also and our son is considering attending Purdue.
Any help you might have greatly appreciated!

I emailed you about brookley louks.
We still have no ID on that body found in the woods but they do not think it's her anymore.
Anyway, I'm writing about another RV. Wade Steffey. They found a body in the electrical closet at the dorms today at Purdue. They are speculating it's him.
Just updating you.

Body found on Purdue campus
March 19, 2007 05:26 PM EDT
Wade Steffey
Jeanne Norberg, Purdue University
Jeremy Brilliant/Eyewitness News
West Lafayette - Police are investigating the discovery of a body at the Purdue University campus Monday. At this point officials are not saying whether the body is male or female, and a coroner expects to have more answers Tuesday. Many on campus are worried that it could be the body of Wade Steffey, a freshman who went missing over two months ago.
The body was discovered around noon by a Purdue employee inside a utility room located in Owen Hall, a campus dormitory.
"A pinging noise was coming from an area of Owen Hall that is not accessible to anyone but our utilities people It's a high-voltage area," said Jeanne Norberg, Purdue University. She said the utility worker who found the body "was traumatized. It's a very difficult situation for her."
University officials say they don't know the identity of the individual, but many fear it could be Purdue freshman Wade Steffey, 19, who went missing after attending a party in January.
"As a courtesy, our chief of police has called the Wade Steffey family to let them know that this has happened, since obviously this is the only person that we know of that is missing from Purdue," Norberg said.
The discovery inside Owen Hall has many students openly speculating, especially since Steffey was last seen just outside the building.
"We don't know if it's him, but he's been missing for a while, so it's a good chance that it's him and it's just not a good feeling," said Kim Lukoshus, Purdue student.
Power was cut to the residence hall while the body was removed from what she described as a transformer room filled with high-voltage connections. She also said that the ground-level utility room is not accessible from Owen Hall and is locked with two sets of keys, one each for two sets of doors.
Norberg said that when the building was searched for clues into Steffey's disappearance the utility room was apparently not examined because it was locked.
"Right now we don't know how this deceased individual would have gained entry. That's certainly a question we need to answer, but right now our most important concern is with this individual's family," she said.
Steffey, of Bloomington, was last seen leaving a fraternity party on the north side of campus. He was reported missing after friends returned from the school's three-day break for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and could not find him.

Hello,
His death was an accident, but not like this report says...and he was not alone when he died...do you know if a close friend of his has commented on his death yet?

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Investigators confirmed Tuesday that the body found inside a Purdue University residence hall's utility room Monday is that of Wade Steffey, 19.
Steffey, of Bloomington, vanished Jan. 13 and had been the subject of extensive searches in the weeks since then. The Tippecanoe County coroner's office ruled the cause of death as accidental by electrocution.

Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg said Steffey had been fatally shocked when he entered the utility room in an apparent attempt to enter Owen Hall to retrieve his coat. It appeared he tripped and fell onto a power transformer.
"He is believed to have died instantly," she said.
During the search, maintenance staff entered the utility room, but because of the risk posed by the high-voltage lines, workers did not fully inspect its interior, Norberg said.
"When they searched this room they did not go deeply into this room. They did not see any evidence of Wade," she said.
The entrance to the utility room is about 50 yards from the door at Owen Hall where Steffey was seen trying to enter.
Steffey's parents, Dawn Adams and Dale Steffey, said Tuesday's announcement has brought them closure.
"There's a lot of missing pieces that were so puzzling before that make sense now," Adams said.
"It's been an incredible two months. It's been very difficult, but we've been very humbled by the outpouring of support and the level of concern," Dale Steffey said. "We're thankful today more than anything. We're just thankful that we have our son."
Around noon Monday -- the day classes resumed after a weeklong spring break -- Norberg said a worker investigating the noises unlocked a door leading to the utility room and found the body slumped over a piece of machinery.
The coed residence hall, which houses about 700 students, is near the last reported sighting of Steffey. Investigators said Steffey had just left a fraternity party on the north side of campus.
Steffey was reported missing after friends returned from the school's three-day break for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and could not find him.
Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg said the body was discovered after someone heard a "pinging" noise coming from inside the room and called the campus utility department, asking it to investigate.
"The utility worker went in and found a body in this room. It's a high-voltage area," Norberg said. "She was traumatized. It's a very difficult situation for her."
Campus officials had staged several searches for Steffey, the most recent one on Sunday when about 60 volunteers, assisted by dogs, conducted a ground search.

No reports yet of his friends commenting on his death. The room he entered was supposed to be locked. I will let you know when the police figure out what you already know. The newspaper had a photo of the electrical room so I scanned it, here it is (sorry not sure how to make it any smaller). Barb

Hi, thanks for this...and it came through fine.

The door to the high-voltage utility room where a Purdue University freshman was found electrocuted was unlocked, allowing easy access as recently as Monday, the day the student's body was found, university officials said.
Officials believe Wade Steffey, 19, touched an electrically charged part of a transformer as he felt his way through the dark room to get inside Owen Hall, where he had left his coat in a friend's room.
His body was found between two of the transformers by a facilities manager sent there to check a popping noise. The noise was caused by Steffey's body touching an energized circuit in the room.
He had been missing since Jan. 13.
"Today our long search is over," Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg said at a news conference.
Norberg said the university will investigate to determine who may have left the exterior double doors unlocked. Few people have keys to the room because the equipment there is so dangerous, she said.
Officials are investigating whether the lock was faulty or somehow jammed. "We are focused on getting answers and finding the truth," Norberg said. "We are doing forensics to see what went wrong."
Officials think Steffey climbed over a rail in front of the recessed outside entrance to the utility room and opened the unlocked double doors from the outside. He had no access card for the hall because he didn't live there.
The utility room, about the size of a one-car garage, is in a part of the basement of Owen Hall that stands between two residential wings. Doors lead into it from the outside near a loading dock and from the inside through the laundry room, Norberg said. Both entrances are supposed to be locked at all times, she said.
The interior door to the utility room was described as "vaultlike," making it difficult to detect the decomposing body.
The transformers in the rooms are similar to ones found on outdoor electric utility poles. They have metal bolts with insulators where wires are connected. The exposed bolts are high-voltage points.
"Our entire campus community, along with Wade's family, friends and volunteers, have put so much effort into finding Wade and bringing him home," Norberg said. "While this ends the search for Wade, our search for answers continues. We offer our condolences and our continued support for his family."
The freshman's parents arrived in West Lafayette late Monday afternoon.
Dale Steffey said the family was relieved that the teen's death was not caused by foul play.
"While it is heartbreaking, it's also reassuring that all the other thoughts were not realistic."
The teen's mother, Dawn Adams, said the discovery of her son's body will help the family with closure.
"This fills in a lot of missing pieces. We're pleased it was an accident, and no one else was involved. We can seize a measure of peace," she said.
But she added: "I'm sure this is a red flag for the university, and they will go and look at all the dangerous places."
Norberg said Tuesday that officials are checking other buildings on the campus to make sure doors that are supposed to be locked are locked. The campus has more than 350 buildings.
Students frequently take shortcuts through various areas of the buildings, sometimes through areas considered off-limits, some students said Tuesday.
"I can imagine any of us doing it, especially if you're not familiar with the area. We all do it," said Jenna Kotrba, 19, a freshman from Lafayette.
Kotrba recalled being told by a friend that she once opened the interior door to the utility room, mistakenly thinking it was the entrance to the laundry room.
Steffey was a National Merit Scholar majoring in aviation technology. He was reported missing Jan. 16 when his roommate returned to campus after the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday break.
Steffey was reportedly seen around 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 13 outside Owen Hall after leaving a fraternity party. Investigators said he had left his coat in a friend's room in Owen Hall. He made two cell phone calls around that time, police said.
His aunt Jane Steffey, 47, Franklin, said her nephew was probably determined to get his coat because he was "very picky about his clothes and belongings."
"He was a problem solver," said his mother, "and this was a problem he probably thought he could solve."
For a few days after his disappearance, officials picked up his cell phone signal but could not pin down its location.
Norberg said that during the search for Steffey the utility room was checked, but no one saw him because his body was between the transformers.
"The location of Wade's body inside the room would have made it difficult for anyone to see him from any of the doorways," Norberg said.
Tippecanoe County Deputy Coroner Martin Avolt said the student probably died instantly because of the high voltage.
His disappearance prompted numerous, large-scale searches of the West Lafayette campus and surrounding areas, along with a dedicated volunteer search center.
The most recent search was held Sunday in and around West Lafayette.
Prayer vigils were held in West Lafayette and in his hometown of Bloomington.
And thousands of people across the country joined a Facebook.com group praying for his safe return.
Anna Hirst, West Lafayette, who organized a fundraiser for the search, said she hopes Steffey's parents and searchers can take some solace from knowing what happened to him.
"It's devastating," she said. "But at least they have an answer now."
