Missing Illinois boy found safe in Tulsa -- two years later
TULSA (AP) - A 6-year-old Illinois boy who disappeared two years ago has been found safe in Tulsa and his grandmother has been arrested, police said.
Jonathan Smalley was living with the grandmother, Doris S. Garretson, 68, in east Tulsa when a neighbor recognized their faces on a flier mailed by the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, officers said.
The center said Garretson did not have custody of the boy when she disappeared with him on March 3, 2005, in Peoria.
Garretson was arrested Tuesday and was being held in the Tulsa County Jail on an Illinois warrant of failing to return the child to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
The boy was placed in protective custody.
