7 hurt when big rig and Anaheim Resort shuttle crash
Injuries range from moderate to mild, authorities say.

ANAHEIM �C An Anaheim Resort shuttle bus taking a load
of passengers to Disneyland collided this morning with
a big rig making a left turn, sending seven passengers
to the hospital, authorities said.

The collision at Anaheim Boulevard and Disney Way was
reported at 9:40 a.m., said Anaheim police Sgt. Rick
Martinez.

Seven people were taken to area hospitals, one with
moderate injuries and six suffering with mild injuries
including complaints of back and neck pain, Anaheim
Fire Department spokeswoman Maria Sabol said.

The shuttle, with about 30 passengers aboard, was
westbound on Disney Way and the driver had stopped at
a red light, Martinez said.

The big rig was going east on Disney Way, and the
driver had also stopped at the red light, preparing to
make a left turn onto Anaheim Boulevard, Martinez
said.

When the light turned green, both vehicles moved
forward. The driver of the big rig turned left in
front of the shuttle bus and the vehicles collided,
Martinez said.

"We're trying to determine who had the right of way,"
Martinez said.

The shuttle bus was about two blocks from the
Disneyland theme park when the accident occurred.

About 20 gallons of diesel fuel spilled out of the big
rig, but firefighters cleaned it up before it could
run into storm drains, Sabol said.

Twenty-three firefighters on two engines, two trucks
and five ambulances responded to the scene along with
Anaheim police.

Anaheim Hills CA - Some Anaheim Hills residents were evacuated as flames approach luxury home neighborhoods. The fire has consumed at least 300 acres of brush, and police went door to door to evacuate residents of 200 homes on the edge of Anaheim Hills.

The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) reports that the alarm was called at 7:53 A.M. Sunday morning. They dubbed the incident the “Windy Ridge Fire” and are using 4 Air Tankers, 4 Helicopters, 100 Fire Engines, 5 Dozers, 20 strike teams and over 400 firefighters.
