Farmer's confession to undercover cop on murders

A PIG farmer accused of being Canada's worst serial killer confessed to killing 49 women, a court heard yesterday.

Robert Pickton allegedly told an undercover police officer: "I was going to do one more, to make it an even 50."

Pickton, 56, is said to have picked up the women, mostly prostitutes and drug addicts, from Vancouver's red light district.

He is alleged to have taken them back to his remote 17-acre farm, where he butchered them.

He is then said to have put their bodies through an industrial woodchipper and fed their mince to his pigs, some of which were later slaughtered and sold into the human food chain.

Jurors were warned that details of the crimes would be "like a horror movie" and relatives of the victims began to cry as the case was opened.

The court heard that a police interviewer had suggested he was caught because he hadn't cleaned up blood properly. He is said to have replied: "I was going to shut it down. That's when I was just sloppy. Just the last one."

Prosecutor Derrill Previtt said at one point the defendant said: "I don't deserve to eat." And at another: "I should be on death row."

In his formal police interviews the accused said he did not know the women and was "just a pig farmer".

But when shown a board covered in photographs of missing prostitutes he told police: "You make me more of a mass murderer than I am."

The court heard that the heads, hands and feet of two women were found in a freezer at the farm in Port Coquitlam, outside Vancouver.

The heads had been cut in half vertically using a power saw and matched DNA samples from two missing women.

Forensic evidence, including partial jaw bones, hand bones and teeth belonging to another four women, was also found there.

Pickton is charged with the murder of 26 women but is currently on trial for just six of the killings. He has pleaded not guilty.

There are still 36 women missing from the Vancouver area.

Jurors were told a female witness claimed to have seen Pickton in his slaughterhouse "engaged in butchering a woman".

It is thought the murders Pickton is accused of started in 1983 when Rebecca Guno, a prostitute and heroin addict, vanished from Vancouver.

Police failed to take notice of the disappearance of so many women - despite appeals from the victims' families.

Lynn Frey, whose daughter Marnie, 24, died at the farm, said: "They didn't want to listen.

"The police kept saying that the missing women had probably gone to live in another town, and that their lifestyles had made them so chaotic they would forget to call home."

Police spent 21 months scouring Pickton's farm for evidence, sifting through 370,000 cubic yards of soil and collecting 200,000 DNA samples.

Pickton is also alleged to have run an underground drinking club called Piggy's Palace with his brother Dave in an outhouse at the site, which he invited some of his victims back to for drug-fuelled parties.

Last year Dave, who lives just a few hundred yards from the farm, told the Mirror in a telephone conversation: "I was out of town all the time.

"I don't know anything about what went on."

Developers are now said to be planning to build a housing estate and children's park on Pickton's farm.

The hearing, at New Westminster Supreme Court in British Columbia, continues.

Look on the right side of the paper it is saying RC farms which is one of nevadas largst pig farms.  It is saying the disease is not in the air it is in the meat.  It is saying tha human remains are in the pig food.  It is not early man, it is any man.  It says it is happening @ rc farms in nevada.
