Are you sure this is not the Y12 plant in Oak Ridge TN rather than YR?It looks like it could be.

There was an accident with a fire today at "Y-12" Nuclear plant at Oak Ridge Tennessee today. They said uranium chips caught fire.

Could what you thought was YR be Y-12 ??

BrianAn emergency event occurred Thursday morning at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge.

According to Bill Wilburn, Y-12 spokesman, the emergency declaration was the result of a small uranium chip fire in building 9204-2E, known as Beta-2.

"Some guys were moving some chips from one container to another," says Wilburn. "In the process, the chips may have been exposed to air. There are no injuries, and no damage to the building."

Wilburn says the fire was extinguished quickly.

The building was evacuated as a precaution, and crews assessed the area for contamination. Employees were allowed to return to the building after 6:00 pm Thursday evening, expect for the immediate area where the fire occurred.

There was no personnel contamination and no off-site impact as a result of the fire this morning. There were no injuries and no damage to the building.
