CASE # 224: Austin James McKinney (12.7.2006)(LOCATED)

This RV has been confirmed correct by police and media reports.

"Austin is safe, Jenifer, have him bring your son back, lies ?"

"mother wanted to scare boys father, paid $1,500, OK return him Jenny, no gun, Austin"
Translation: I do not think this is a real kidnapping, I think it's some sort of sick way to get the attention of Austin's father.
Remember, I have been wrong in the past, so please do not stop searching until this child is found.

ROSHARON, Texas -- A mother who, along with two men, kidnapped her
2-year-old son surrendered to police with the boy hours after an Amber Alert
was issued, officials told KPRC Local 2.
Austin James McKinney was taken from his baby sitter's home in the 2200
block of County Road 584 in Rosharon shortly after 10:30 a.m. by a man with
a gun, while the boy's mother and another man waited outside, according to
authorities.
Witnesses said the gun came out when the baby sitter's son tried to stop the
abduction.
"He pulled the gun to keep me from getting to the kid. They handed the kid
off to another guy and the guy, handed it to the girl and she got in the
truck. The other guy got in the truck, and the other guy kept his hand on
the gun and said, 'That's the way it's going to be,'" said the baby sitter's
son, who did not want to be identified.
No one was injured.
Investigators said McKinney's mother, Jennifer Leann Toney, 32, kidnapped
the boy because of a long-running custody dispute with the boy's father. The
couple is separated, but the boy's father said they have been attempting to
reconcile.
He can't understand why the boy was taken.
"You know, they picked up my baby and took him. That's my understanding.
They took my child at gunpoint, and that's not right," Jim McKinney said.
The child's mother surrendered to police at the HPD's southeast substation
hours later.
The boy was taken to a local hospital to be checked out, but officials said
he did not appear to be harmed.
Police identified the gunman as Tommy Pounds and said he could be affiliated
with a gang. He and the other man have not been found.
Toney could face aggravated kidnapping charges.

HOUSTON -- A toddler who was abducted Thursday at gunpoint from a babysitter in Rosharon has been turned over -- unharmed -- to Houston police.

Austin James McKinney
An Amber Alert had been issued for 2 1/2 year-old Austin James McKinney.
The Brazoria County sheriff's department says a man not related to the boy apparently took him. The child ended up with his mother.
Sheriff's Captain Chris Kincheloe told The Associated Press that a relative contacted the boy's mother and advised her to turn over the child.
Kincheloe says that happened late this afternoon at a Houston police station.
He identified the mother as Jennifer Toney, 32, from the Pearland area.
Kincheloe says the whereabouts of the man who allegedly abducted the boy remains unknown.
The captain also says the mother had been in contact with the father to report the child was OK.
Law officers plan on talking to the mother.
